New Beetle Alert...
Hello there, my fellow Insectnerds.
I hope you are having a wonderful summer. I thought Id show you a picture of a fantastic species of beetle, Metallic Stag Beetle( Cyclommatus metaliffer). He's been fully grown for a week or so now but wanted to wait until his exoskeleton had hardened up before unearthing him.
I tend to think waiting for them to emerge is better. However, through his pupal chamber I could tell he was close to becoming fully developed, i.e his elytra had developed and his exoskeleton had hardened, so I went ahead and very carefully unearthed him.
Anyway, I was wondering what to name him. I had a few ideas and thought a vote would be fun.
What shall we name this stunning fellow?
